Ok so I have been looking at allot of video games lately and I’m starting to think that game makers seem to only be making games screaming monkey frat boys that instead of trying to do any thing new. When i was watching the Invisible walls on game trailers yesterday all they seem to talk about where all the shooting photorealistic games, like Killzone. I have nothing against games like that really, but when all the games go for the realistic look then they all look the same. I’m pretty sure if you put video of Killzone, Resistance 2, and a bunch of the other FPS out there then the casual gamer or the parents of a gamer couldn’t tell then apart. I understand that it costs allot of money to make a game and game developers are just doing a sure thing instead of trying new stuff, but we are never going to get past all this mind numbing repetitive crap if game developers don’t start taking risks and if game consumers don’t try different games other then FPS.

I am sort of looking forward to games for the wii. "Wario Land Shake it" looks sweet to me, the animations are great and it looks like its going back to the old Wario Land games. "Mega Man 9" is another game I want to get, but it would have been cool if they had gone that extra mile and gave it sweet 2d graphics like "Wario Land Shake it" instead of just doing 8-bit graphics. Chrono Trigger is also coming to the DS, but its looking like a direct port instead of a remake. Who knows maybe they will put in the stuff they left out when they first brought it to the US, but as its looking i see no reason to by the game again. I sort of want to play Phantasy Star Portable for the PSP(PSP on the PSP Teehee). I liked playing Phantasy Star online and I’m always a fan of a game that lets you customize your character. No idea when its coming to the US though, its not out in Japan until the end of the month.

As for stuff I’m playing lately. I just got that pokemon ranch game for the wii. Its not really a game actually more of some what of a virtual pet game with hundreds of pets, and features for interacting with them become unlocked the more you upload pokemon and each day. I also downloaded River City Ransom, still a cool game don’t really know what I’m doing I’m just beating the coin out of people then I got my ass beat by a guy in a warehouse. I have 700 points left for the wii online store I’m going to wait until MM9 comes out and see how much that costs.

Oh on a side note if you have a PSP and have the internet try and get to the Japanese PSP site they have cooler demos.

I'm REALLY psyched for the new Wario Land, though I can't help but pine for the old "Mischief Makers" game when I look at the shaking element... but I'm sure it'll be great.

On the topic of photorealistic games, I agree in some instances, if the developers really put the time and effort into a game, it'll stick out on it's own, like say Gears of War, or maybe moreso the new "Mirror's Edge" game coming out. I'm still a bit cautious of the "realistic" games, but they do seem to be getting a bit more artistic nowadays.

There are way too many gritty FPS games out there. I don't even play them anyway, the sole exception is the Metroid Prime Series. My mother often claims my game collection is too samey because I like to collect sequals in my favorite franchises, but the other option would be to just but the same basic game from other franchises, and then I don't have the advantage of having a cast I like. I am looking forward to games like Spore and the Sonic RPG, and good old Megaman making his return too.
i don't even have near that XP

2nd port, it was ported to the playstation along time ago, and it had new anime videos with it
The industry seems to be having a bout of "sequelitis", and it's finally starting to cause noticeable stagnation. You might've noticed that all of the big games this year have the number 4 tacked onto the end of their titles. =P Not many publishers are willing to take a chance on something new, especially with the costs of development skyrocketing. It's a shame, really.
