Rude Inkling girl by rongs1234 Rude Inkling girl by rongs1234
I had a different pic in mind for my warm up doodle this morning, but I saw this story about how one of the Inkling Girl's poses in Mario Kart 8 was changed. The whole thing made me have this idea of Mario being offended by the original pose.

I would literally never think that. She totally looks like she's just flexing her muscles as many people do.

Unless you've been watching a certain (old) comedy that pokes fun at this you almost never see it in the U.S. in the "up yours" sense, yet there's always a select few who get wound up over it.

Bowser did this in the Japanese version of SMRPG, which was of course removed from the west.  But in the case of the Inkling Girl, I prefer to think that Nintendo meant to reference the "We can do it!" meme.

They did that because the gesture is the same as giving someone the finger.

The reason they did it was because this gesture is the exact same thing as giving someone the bird.

Well here's the answer to this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bras_d…

Now you know why they changed it.

Never understood why they patched it. Is that like the middle finger in Europe or something?

Hearing about that patch was really annoying..... so are they saying the picture with the woman doing the SAME pose saying "You can do it!" is offense too!? It's been around for years!!!! Probably since before some of us were even born..... grrrr

People are questioning why this gesture would be considered offensive, but it's like asking how a middle finger's swearing. They're both only gestures, yet they can still be considered offensive depending on the culture.

Though I am wondering in which places is this considered a swear. The article I read about this said it was Italy but is it other places? Either way the choice to use Mario for this picture's still ideal.

I'm glad they changed it. I was so offended... Kidding.

But at least this great drawing came out of this whole thing. =P

And what's so offensive about that?
I'd understand if there was a Middle Finger, often used with this pose.

But without one, it just looks like flexing muscles or something.
A pose to convey confidence.

I'll never understand some people... <_<

Oh well, the drawing is great though. ;)

It apparently means "Up yours" or "Fuck you" at least in Italy. Not sure about other countries.

Different countries have different words or actions that are considered offensive to that country but not any others. For example in Britain a backwards peace sign is considered a swear.

I dunno what "Up Yours" is, but without showing the actual dirty finger, I can't see it being interpreted as "F U".

It's short for shove it up your ass.

Well how is it that a middle finger could mean "F U"? There may be countries where that isn't offensive at all and question how that could possibly mean "F U". That's what you're doing by questioning this gesture.

In other news, Rosie the Riveter was censored for posing in a similar fashion.  When questioned, SJWs took offense.

Well it does make sense because what I read on Wikipedia, it's considered offensive on Europe, Central America,  USA. Which literally means "f**k you", middle finger and "up yours". So it's understandable why it's changed.

Ahh, now I know why some people were getting upset about the Inkling Girl now.
Well, it's not like Mario Kart hasn't been censored by different cultures before.
I think best example is Super Mario Kart with the bottle of champagne the 1st place winner gets.
If I remember correctly, in the Super Famicom version Peach and Bowser guzzle down that bottle like drunkards.
Oh well, despite being rude to some, I think it's fitting and rather cute for her.

Sometimes I don't understand foreign countries.

Next thing you know some country will find "there, there" pat on the back offensive.
That's how stupid I think this "Offense" is!
